hey ppl!
am sharad from new del,india.just joined ur camp!i want advice on how to get startd for step,hav completed my urban part of the intern n twas quite hectic n enjoyble(as i tuk it).well now in the last 3 months i wanna get startd with perp/coaching! cud u plz suggest HOW?i hav my cuzin's kaplans notes,bt ppl say i join the kaplans coachin.opinions?is it worth all the cash?i cud use all the advice i can get on coaching buks n strategies!

Hi
Good to have you on the forum.Well you are starting early,which is good.First decide when you want to give the USMLE.The exam is very different from our indian exams and you need to stress on the basics.There is a lot of molecular biology and genetics and medical ethics asked on the exam.I think Kaplan is a good learning alternative for the IMG.Good Luck.

hi i am doing my internship and am from mumbai..i joined kaplan and am done with my course.see overall kaplan was ok.my problem was i have my internship going on and classes simultaneosly so it was really hectic.if ur plannin to join then make sure u read at the same time cos i cd harldy read up stuff now when my lecture sessions r done maybe ill get a little time to do my stuff.see ppl in kaplan r postgraduates or ppl who r done with their degree so they get to sit down n read so decide n do.incase u r one among those who can really read up stuff n manage then nothing like it.i dont know how the faculty is in newdelhi ive heard they have the latest tapes n all so just find out cos here in mumbai we r still with the old tapes.but if u can sincerely sit down n read i know ppl who have done step 1 without joining kaplan that too with gr8 scores..
lemme know when u plan to give the exam n what is ur schedule.

hello madhavi!
gud 2 hear frm u.i hav more thn one prob with strting with tht thing.i also hav to go to my college in kolhapur to take my completion as my intern ends on jan 31st n i can strt frm here only by 7-8th feb n twud take anthr 5-10 days thr to do all the work.moreover i hav to go for the rural duties these days but thts once a week so i wud hav to cover up on sunday.i feel instead of gettin thorough with old topics i wud spend most of my time catchin up with new ones in all my course duration.i'd lik to ask frm u as u hav done the course n i havnt,wudnt it be better if i do the course post feb 15th n just brush up my basics n start studyin myslf till thn or wud tht be too late?accordingly i'd tak the exam some 1 month after i finsih the course at kaplans by june /july! :!: u tell me am confused my slf.

im from hyderabad and have got 2 more months to go for my internship to finish i joined kaplan just yesterday we ve got the new kaplan tapes as well as old but everybody says that the old ones are better but as madhavi said its imperative that u find time to study simultaneously and just 2 days gone but im findin kaplan really helpful so when r u guys plannin to give the exam and how r u plannin to go about it

hi sharad n dr usmle,
i am planning to give my exam in march end...as i told u my internships on n it was hectic so i really cdnt study much infact hardly anything so will be starting right now cos the lecture sessions r over so maybe ill get time now to read.abt sharad i feel if ur planning to join kaplan this is the right time cos u have 2 mths for ur internship to get over n u said ur rural is only once a week so if can adjust a bit then its gr8 but if u feel it will better if u join after ur internship and then slog it out its also good.it depends on u how u want it cos every persons way of studyin is different so calmly decide what u wanna do n schedule accordingly. and dr usmle what sujects have u started with n how r u going abt it n when r u planning to give ur exam..as fars as the tapes go i dunno which is better but usmle is an exam which is all round the year so maybe theyll expect the latest stuff..
do lemme know how r u going abt the whole thing
