My Backgrounds: 1. IMG, Grad at 1997 as MD 2. rotation in Dept of Path from 1996-1997 3. 1997--2000: pathology resident training, teacher and researcher in my home country 4. 2000--current: PhD student in Pathology, USA, will grad within 3 months 5. USMLE: Step I-97/239, II-95/234, CS--11-18-2005 6. several good publications 7. Three LoR, including two famous pathologists in our department, one of who is my advisor. 8. No green card. my wife just started, so we can't move only applied two programs in our city in the early Nov, one is the medical center I am studying in. Got one interview from the other program, but rejection from our department, actually the PD here told me and my advisor weeks ago that she will give me interview, but now she changed her mind. Question: should I apply more programs? but my wife insists that we can not move since we have to start all over for green card application if we change place. any other good suggestions? Thanks and have a great Thanksgiving!!!

Hi, I think u have pretty good chnaces of matching at the one place u have ur interview at.but u can't bank on just one program right?maybe when u interview there...u'll get an idea as to how much they like u and want u in the program.like i said ur chances for patho r amazingly good. hopefully u'll match at the place of ur choice...but incase u don't(keeping this possibility in mind) u have to decide whether u want to postpone ur residency plans for next year(which i don't think is a good idea)...or u might have to move away from ur wife&family for some time to pursue the residency in another city(tough decision).for that u shud apply to a few more programs just to be on the safe side. good luck!
