I heard from ? source(do not remember) that qs on real exam tend to get harder when the comp or someone else? sees that you're getting qs right. Meaning, first you're given easier qs, then if you get them right, the following qs become harder, if you get them wrong, they get easier?

Anyone heard about this?

well alfa i have heard this too infact read this in some source not sure tat first they start up with easy stuff but then if ur getting the things rite the qs get harder but if u mess up then the qs get easier

yes! I read it some place, I wanted to recall where but it was quite awhile ago.... So, wonder if it is still true.... and then, depending on how you do on those 'upgraded" or "downgraded" qs, is calculated ur score.

Something like this: let's say, you've got the initial "easy" qs right....then, if you get the following upgraded harder qs right as well, it is counted as upgrade in ur score(you get higher score).

If you've got initial easy qs wrong, then you're given even easier qs. And if you get those easier qs right, it is not counted in ur score as high as if you had taken the harder qs right, as described above(so, you get lower score).

Something like this... or i am dreaming... someone else heard about it?

And does some1 know at all HOW they do the score calculations?

No, it's not true.

The step 1 exam is NOT an adaptive exam. Whether you do well or poorly as you move through the questions doesn't change the questions you're going to face.

i think the source you all guys are referring to is FIRST AID, first section. in fact it says that there are RUMORS that in the FUTURE there might be an Adaptive policy but NOT YET.

well dont worry, this is wrong, this holds true for the gre exam, and i had given that and i found my questions kept on becoming tougher, and then i got good score...

but it does not true for usmle, for sure...

so dont worry, and usmle is unlikely to ever become adaptive

not until we finish with itgrin
