what are mood congruent and mood incongruent. I read it on kaplan notes but I did not understand anything?

Mood congruent means if a person is saying I am sad....and he looks sad on mental status examination then its called mood congruent........ Mood Incongruent means if the patient is saying I am sad but on PE (mental status examination) he is not.. And same for happy This is rough explanation Plz Correct me if I am wrong

I thought it was related to psychosis. I've read many explanations: One of them was If the hallucinations and delusional arguments of a psychotic patient are related to depression (suicidal, guilt, etc.) we talk about mood congruent psychosis; If hallucinations and delusions are not related to depressive symptomes (persecution, grandiosity, etc.) we talk about mood incongruent psychosis. But I'm still not sure it is the exact explanation.
