hi! i was granted a B1/B2 visa this morning. i was lucky to have avoided the situation some IMGs have gotten into, like applying 4x before being granted a visa. the consul just asked for my ECFMG visa assistance letter and scheduling permit for the step2-CS exam. he didn't ask for bank statements, land titles, certificate of employment, etc. however, i told the consul that i will only take the USMLE step2-CS exam and visit some relatives, and that i haven't gotten any invitations from program directors yet. so he told me that i should be back before december 30 and that that will give me more than enough time for my exam and for some sight-seeing. my problem is, what if i do get invitations for interviews scheduled in january or february while im there??? i still have to follow the consular officer's order to report back on dec.30 right? so i will have to forget about the interviews? shucks! can't his order to report back on the 30th be overruled by the immigration officers at the point of entry?

I think so. What matters is what they stamp in your passport when you enter the US. Never overstay the time they give you!
