hi friends:

Canany one tell me in vit.K def.bleeding in newborn the prothrombine time PT, only or PT and aPTT are prolonged?

PT is prolonged and is more sensitive.

aPTT can be prolonged too.

Vit K deficiency cause def of II, VII, IX, X

Factor VII has the shortest half-life (3-5 hours) of the known coagulation


So firstly PR is prolonged ( VII deficiency), later aPTT is prolonged too
