Hey all... I took my exam and posted details about my score and NBMEs and MCAT scores etc... in the exam scores thread section... My USMLE Score was 258/99 How did I prepare? I am a Ross Student and after the basic sciences we have to do a 12 week semester in Advanced intro to clinical med. While I was doing rotations, I went through all the material once. I used BRS for Path, Lipincott biochem, Lipincott Pharm, High Yield Embryo, Anatomy, and Neuro, and BRS Behavioral and physio. After the semester was over, I signed up for Kaplan Review (retreat course in Chicago) and studied through the Kaplan review books once before the course. During the course, I took notes in class and after class transcribed the lectures and book material I thought was important into hand written notes (this was extremely time intensive) After the class, I went through all the notes that I had made twice... I also completed the Q bank two times... The first time through my scores ranged from 75 to 90 averaged 81... the second time through I averaged 92% (I highly recommend twice through Q bank... it is important to get a good idea on how they ask Qs...) The Questions on the USMLE were very VERY similar to the Q bank in difficulty... but there were some real easy Qs and some real hard Qs on the USMLE... Kaplan Review as a course is AMAZING. The professors they have for you are nothing less than Outstanding!!! I will list the names of the profs I had, they were very good!!! Biochem Dr. Turco, Physio - Dr. Dunn, Micro - Dr. Dunn, Anatomy/Neuro/ Embryo - Dr White, Behavioral - Dr. Fadem, Pharm - Dr. Nora, Path - Dr. Goljan I am not hired by Kaplan I just want to convey how much I think Kaplan helped!!! OK so when I finnished my basic sciences in Dominca from Ross, I took NBME form 1 (without preparing or studying... just to see where I stand) I got USMLE equivalent of 232... After Kaplan Review my NBME form 1 was Equivalent of 265 and form 2 was 257 If you have any questions for me please don't hesitate to ask. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL!!!!

Thank you... To answer your questions Drizaad, I used materials other than Kaplan's books to prepare prior tp signing up to the course, but after I had the materials I used their materials almost exclusively with the exception of Pathology... For Pathology I used Goljan's book which was an outstanding book! As far as the other subjects, I would pay close attention to the kaplan books, as they are very comprehensive for the exam. That is what I used anyway. I do not have access to any Audio or video CD's of the lectures sorry... I hope this helps... Best of luck preparing Thank you very much for the kind words!
