I want to apply for step 3 but before I start the online application, i want to know if I am entitled to selecting an eligibility period during the online application?

no you cannot choose elig period.
you are asiigned peripd by FSMB when you apply.
you can choose your date within that period.

How many month period do they choose for you? If I apply say first week of december, will they allow me to take the exam say from January till March? or it has to be more time? Do you have any idea?

i think your elig period begins from the time you apply.

from the day they approve your application they give u 90 days within which u have to take step-3,for me since i am in UK they sent a mail saying that they are adding 15 days more to those 90 days period which began last week i am yet to recieve my scheduling permit.
