Urine amylase increases often persist longer than do those of serum in pancreatitis.

Anyone can explain this, i forgot its mechanism

All i can think of is the high association of Pancreatitis with gallstones & oftentimes these stones lodges in the urinary system......

Hi Kerochi

I have just checked the harison, the high level in serum for first 48 hours due to the membrane damage of pancreatic cell

The high level in urine for a couple of days later is due to the increased renal clearance of amylase & lipase
