Anemia of Chronic Disease
Body try to protect the stored iron because of the chronic Disease and inflammation.....So the serum iron is decrease...Leading to Iron Deficiency Anemia............................................

that is what i know but what i read is short life span of rbc , low erythropoeitin or impaired response to it-----suorce Q bank

chronic disease /inflammation leads to release of cytokines which in turn cause decreased release of iron from macrohpages to plasma, reduced eryhtopoietin response and reduced RBC lifespan.
