I am one of those students who feels he has everything until one fine day he realises he was dreaming: I am an IMG with 2 99s and a few publications.I am also ECFMG certified......but I am new to the US and have no USCE: I have applied to 50+ programs and expected atleast a few decent calls....I had a few American friends go over my application to make sure I wasnt making a gross mistake and graduated last year: I have been called for a interview at only 7 community hospitals which are average and 1 average university...Ive come here with a lot of aspirations giving up on a lot of things and feel so lost...I need a H1b or a J1 VISA.....Can you please tell me where I messed up or made a mistake.... This really drives me insane...sitting in front of my PC n refreshing the page is all Ive been doing now.... Is it so tough for IMG's this year? Should I apply for more? I did apply only to IMG friendly hospitals and feel so dejected.

what are you applying for?

OK, we are IMG unfortunately we cannot be picky. All u need is to get your feet wet. Once wet with a couple of LORS aroiund the place, you can give it a try again. It does not really matter where yo get your training, all you need is training to practice in us. To be picky, you must have graduated in this country. consider urself lucy. I only have 3 interviews. One is veery strong, although i need more just in case. with 7 you have very good chances. Get ur name in the system. Then move around. dont give up. Sell urself in interviews, be a team player. show you are not intimidated, strong and above all be commited.

u r not the only one,

as it was told before, this yr the're much more applicants than in the past few yrs and higher proportion of them with high 90'..

And we all count on how do we strike in the interviews(better quality than quantity).

our excellent USMLE scores are nt "red carpet"
