Hey all - no offense if taken at all. Especially since some are way off and some are spot on. I have been to Ramstein AFB, but I wasn't in the Air Force. I have been to S. Korea, but strictly as a tourist visiting an old friend.

And I am already family with Indian cuisine - a few Indian resturants in the area (what is the dish with the sauce and onions and potatoes? Very spicey and love Naan!!) and Arabic (lamb ghallaba is a favorite and hummous!)

I'm just not going to tell much more than that!

guys look at the most dangerous cities in the US...and whats scary is I got interviews in lots of them, and not alot of the safe places...

Listed as the most dangerous cities are: Camden, New Jersey; Detroit, Michigan; St. Louis, Missouri; Flint, Michigan; Richmond, Virginia; Baltimore, Maryland; Atlanta, Georgia; New Orleans, Louisiana; Gary, Indiana; Birmingham, Alabama.

At the other end of the scale, the safest are named as: Newton, Massachusetts; Clarkstown, New York; Amherst, New York; Mission Viejo, California; Brick Township, New Jersey; Troy, Michigan; Thousand Oaks, California; Round Rock, Texas; Lake Forest, California; Cary, North Carolina.

this is according to cnn.com today...

again,1 more rejec.. they just can't invite all of us for the interview:

"We have had a large increase in the number of applicants with exceptional records this year.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer you an invitation to visit since we do not have the facilities or resources to invite all candidates to interview."

ssandu112 yeah Im going all over US cuz Im scared...you guys are telling all these freaky stories...I DONT want to end up without a good match.

  #49

mmogh, if you don't end up with a good match I don't know who else will, most people are still struggling to get interviews, you have the option of picking and choosing. Good luck

it is true that no. of applications r way up this yr.until last yr anyone wid good credentials wd have many univ calls even for imgs ,case is not the same this yr.I do agree that same ppl r applying many places but i dont blame them...i took advise from frends doing residency n applied to 40 places...im regretting it now cuz univs r just not calling somehow.i guess i shd have applied to 100+places too. I am wondering if anyone got many univ calls n what r their credentials?
still i thought only 1 interview matters in the end...but now i feel u guys r right...competition is more at interview level too this time....so shd one take a prematch wherever offered?even if it feels like selling yourself short?any views?

I agree drkill that only 1 interview matters in the end...but which one is going to be the one? I have almost 30 interviews this year, with at least 15-20 from university based, and other prestigious places, but still I dont know if I will match. I wanted Baylor, or the likes of them, but what can I do. 40 applications I think is good, if you know where you are applying, and know what to do. I applied to 39 at first, and 20 of my interviews came from there, and the next 40 I applied to I only got 7 so far...so mass applying is a waste of money, as I found out in my second batch. Be smart where you apply.

About credentials....this is somewhat important in my opinion, but a persons personality, and what they have done in ther life, and what they want to do with it now is also I think important...my scores are fair, in the 90's, but nothing like 2 99's that I here of. I am a citizen, which I think is the most important factor. I think programs look for any minimally qualified AMG's, that will fit in the program, then they go for FMGs with imigration status which are fairly good, they they look for sponsering visas, because in the end run, sponsering someone costs money, and the bottom line is always about money. I think people with visa issues should think more of prematch than others, I have been offered 2 solid prematches, and one half intrested one, and Ive yet to decide...

thats right programs do look to avoid hassle.i have a gc n i have been offered prematch too which i declined cuz i wasnt satisfied wid the program.i am worried cuz i dont think i was too smart while applying smiling face i guess i just dint think it will b so competitive.well , i do have calls frm comm hospitals but not frm univ hospitals.most i havent heard anything frm -not even a rejection. So just wondering....
