Highly recommend reading this just for people who took form 3 already, or those don't intend to take it. Pls help with some Qs from form 3. I didn't have enough time to write them down exactly when taking the standard test, so come w. the concepts.

1. Patient developes Serum sickness after taking Penicillin. Her plasma is strong chemotactic for Neutrophil, Eosinophil, Mono & Basopil. What responsible for the chemotatic feature ?

a. c3a

b. c5a

c. c3b

d. c5b

e.c5-c9

2. Action potential in exciting cell is due to change in:

a. Membrane ion conductance

b. Ionic quilibrium potential

3. Patient w septic shock. Blood culture =E. Coli. What structure is responsible for Hypotension in pt?

a. O antigen

b. Porin

c. Lipid A

d.Capsular Polysaccharide

e. Fimbria

4.Cell that in vitro lysis of tumor cell ?

a. NK cell

b. CD8+

5. Patient in stress due to works & family stuffs. what change expected?

a. Increase TSH

b. Increase serum Ca

6.2 y.o girl with Strabismus. If not treat early, what happen later ?

a. Abnormal monocular vision

b. Abnormal Binocular vision

7. What change in HbS in hypoxemia?

a. Beta chain of globin becomes tetramer.

b. Polymerization of Hb S

c. Hbs combine w Spectrin

8. Patient with absence of pain perception due to disorder of neural crest. What will see on him ?

a. Abnormal schwann cell

b. Abnormal large neurons of Dorsal root ganglion

c. Abnormal small neurons of DRG.

Answer w some explains.Thanks

hi, thanks for putting these up.

the ones iam confident about:

3) Lipid A

4) NK cell

5) Stress with rising cortisol would decrease calcium levels, so maybe Inc TSH?

7) Polymerization of HbS

  #3

just a guess-- others membrane conductance, abnormal small neurons of DRG., Abnormal binocular vision.

reet why small neurons of DRG,can u explain,,

  #5

4-- NK cells

5- incr serum Ca

pain perception-abnormal small neurons-- i think damaged neurons..(how can be neurons big...any idea???)

i read tht cortisol REDUCES calcium levels in blood thru dec absptn from gut and inc renal excretion....is that wrong?

1. C5a - C5a is a chemotatic factor for Neutrophil (FA - p209)

C3a & C5a - anaphylaxis: Stimulating Histamine release.

2. just guess : Mem. conductance, bc the ion flux through mem. is dependent on its conductance.

3.Lipid A

4.NK cell (sure)

8. Reet, I think : there're 2 kinds of cell in DRG: large neuron & small neuron. & in ALS , 1 of 2 kinds will be damaged. no clue

Bluecatback, thank u for coming back , i'm sure u passed, just hoping for a very good score.Let's us know when u get it.

There're some Q about behavior i post on BS forum, could your guys pls help w. those. Thanks

Also, there's tricky Q in NBME 3, i've just remembered after read FA:

There's a chart , with Hypothalamus, Pituitary --> LH & FSH , arrows & Sertoli & Leydig cell ( Do u emember?)

They say: Knowing that Testosterone stimulate Estrogen production in sertoli cell. There's a substance (which secreted fr. Sertoli cell) that have negative feeback on the Hypothalamus. What is it?

a. Inhibin

b.androstenedione

c.Testosterone.

Sorry, the substance they assked is secreted by Leydig cell.not Sertoli
