I am a Chinese medical graduate and now a second year biomedical science Ph.D student. I want to be an internal medicine resident in USA. Now I have three choices:
1 Finish USMLE as soon as possible, give up Ph.D study.
2 Finish Ph.D first and then apply for residency using J1 or H1 visa.
3 Finish Ph.D, get a green card and then apply for residency.
To get a green card may take me a long time , actually I donot like that. But nowadays without green card, maybe my chance would be very dim.
How can I get matched with J1 or H1 visa and how large would the chance be?
