hey guys thank you for the nice comments i just came home from the interview, i thought the interview was really nice, it started with the pc giving us a tour of the hospital which was really nice though the hospital was a bit old, but it really seemed like a nice place, and everybody seemed enjoying what they were doing, after that i had my interview with the PD who was a really nice guy asked me genral questions about my background and weither i wanted to do a fellowship after residency, i felt very comfprtable during the interview, the PD told me that he thinks im a good candidate and told me to think about joining them, and told that i could come for a second look if i wanted( but i dont think it was a frank prematch offer) and he also asked me to contact them after i'm done with the rest of my interviews, after that we met a couple of 3rd year residents who were really nice and seemed enjoying their residency, and really satisfied with the program, after that a chief resident sat with us and answered our questions, then we had lunch and attended the residents meeting, and then i went home and now im typing my experience, i thought my interview went really well, i still dont know if what the PD told was a serious prematch offer, or he was only being nice to me_ i would really like to hear your feedback on this guys_ otherwise everything was cool , and now is time to prepare for my flight tomorrow. good luck to all of you guys

Turn your cell phone off during your interview day. Even if it's another program calling you, a couple of hours isn't going to matter. Don't text page persons, even if you are waiting for your next interview. It really makes you look bored by the whole process. Even if you are bored, don't text page or play games on your phone. Don't make calls during any part of the day during your interview.

Hey bbb I totally understand you now!!! I thought you were kiddin' about the cell phone during IV but I actually saw it during my IV today!! I couldn't believe it!! They actually brought a cell phone in and they left it ringing and even made and received calls!! I saw an applicant talking and making jokes at the middle of our IV process with her cell phone, and I wondered: don't they teach people some respect? am I from another planet by thinking that it is way way WAY over the line? By the way, if you ever interview with a friend don't go around talking, giggling and making jokes in your own language all day long!! That is totally disrespectful, I saw this happening today, a couple of applicants talked and giggled even when one of the residents was being kind enough to answer our questions, even he noticed it and asked them if they had any questions... the sad part is they seem to didn't understand or care for the reprimend....and kept on going... I hated those two!! they were like dumb and dumber!!! They made the most terrible out of line questions you could ever think off.... what were they thinking?.... oh well thank God that kind of applicants are very few but it makes me sad because they give IMG's a bad name... not all of us are like that!!

Here are my tips after this interview season for those coming up. Before the interviews: - Write down interview questions found in this topic and your answer. - Write down your answers. - Practice your answers. - Read about the program before going to the interview. - Make a list of questions to ask faculty and residents (but do not read them from a paper during the interview, keep them in your mind). - Get a good night sleep the night before the interview. - Do get at least a quick breakfast before going to the interview. During the interview: - Be there early. I always was the first one to be there (almost always 1 hour ahead), the PD from the program I prematched at noticed it. - Smile! I noticed that this is what most IMG's lack. - Be sociable. - Be polite. - Be sincere. Always tell the truth. - Talk loud and clear - well... not too loud, just loud enough. Don't talk to fast. - Project confidence. Don't slouch or hunch. - Show interest and enthusiasm, but do not try to much to stand out from the others. In one program I heard that the PD likes people that work as a team, not people that want to be the "star" above others. After the interview: - Write thank you notes - I personally think that this is optional, but I did. I would say, at least write to those programs that you really liked.
