Listen folks,
My hubby is studying for the exam and is planning on writing it in 2 weeks (or rather that is when his slot is over). He has almost no time to even talk to me let alone write to the forum so I am requesting on his behalf.

This is his situation-

He failed Step 1 twice (2003 and in 2004)
Has been studying since Jan 2005 for the 3rd time.
NBME format 1= 330 (aug)
Qbank total= 56% (but towards the end last 10-15 blocks 65-73%)
Did Patho-Goljan 2x's (audio and reading) + 1x just audio= total 3x's
Finished 2 readings of Biochem/Physio.
Reading NeuroAnat since yesterday and hopefullly finish by 2morrow.
First Aid- only read Micro and every subject a little here and there in the very beginning (I know that's not good :nosmiling face

Qbook- Anat/Physio/Biochem/Micro/Immuno (but did that at least 4 months ago)
Did last two blocks from USMLE-provided CD and scored= 70%/64%
He hopes to read First Aid completely in 4 days and then go over Qbank subject wise for 1 week. If time read Pharm/Micro/Immuno/Behav. And he also hopes to write NBME format 2 on this Monday.....
So guys what do you say??? What's the damage?? Do you think he can do this or what. You can tell me and I will edit out what exactly I tell him but he is very scared because to go thro' another failure would be devastating. But if he is in bad shape then we have to be realistic on whether he should postpone or not. But that's not easy, money, time, morale.... These are all issues. So PLEASE I want some honest advice about what he should do next, (even whether or not he should even attempt the NBME 2. Because he's scared that if he scores worse than the first time that he might psyche himself out). Ok I should stop. Hopefully Some of you can give us some solid advice. Thanks guys.....

I think 330 on NBME is a warning!! But I did hear of one guy passing with a 360. Id say 410 to 420 or above should guarantee a passing grade

Hi dochenah, I did also 330 on sept 12, but I worked hard and I did 56% in Kaplan Cd, and after that on Nov 7 I did 410 in NBME. it took me more or less 7 weeks from 330 to 410. its not hard to do it, just see your weak areas and read it again and again and try to put all of your effort.

It will go good.

best of luck.
