4) A 54-year-old man presents to his physician for a consultation. The patient is concerned that he may have gotten some "disease" from blood. He has read in the newspapers and seen on TV that people who get blood transfusions can get "diseases," and he received a transfusion in 1982. The patient has been a patient in this office for a few years, and his only other past medical history is hypercholesterolemia and hypertension, for which he is being treated with pravastatin and hydrochlorothiazid E. Which of the following is the most appropriate screening test? A. Hepatitis B B. Hepatitis C C. HIV D. PPD skin testing E. Rapid plasma reagin testing

In 1982, Hepatitis C was not identified yet. remember, they called them Non-A-Non-B Hepatitis and they used ALT, liver function tests to screen blood for hepatitis C. I am getting very old.................old................old...............old............... ......... I am sorry I remember this question in the examination in 1982. hahahh

If he had a transfusion in 1982, American Red Cross should pick up Hepatitis B but not Hepatitis C because they do not have the test yet and the question does not say if he "has" test done later on. 48% of all blood products are screened by American Red Cross but there were so many cases of tinged blood. The commercial blood obtained from those "plasma centers" are "KILLERS', "MURDERERS", During mid-1970, 1980, so many people are infected with HIV and Hepatitis C due to lack of standard in screening of blood products in commercial centers. Only 48% of blood is screened by Rec Cross ! 52% are obtained through private commerical money-sucking "Plasma Centers" in US in which drug addicts are there to sell blood. The Health Director of France went to jail/prison for failure to properly screen the blood in 1980 !!!! same as in canada !!! The largest group of HIV is the pediatric hemophiliac male in Canada ! Why due to failure of properly screening for blood products.
