what is torsade reacition. please explain this thanks

For starters: An increased QT interval that could be seen in alcoholics or quinidine toxicity.

torsade de ppointis means twisting the point around isoelectric line on ECG...it also caleed polymorph ventriculer techycardia in whichmorphology of QRS comples varies from beat to beat...there is inc rate ranging 150-250 b/min in ventrical this cause inc QT intervel...

causes drugs like quinidine basically class IA and III drugs..because in this class duration of action potential inc with inc in effective refrectory period by the blocking actin on fast Na channels..I also read TCA also cause torsade

hypokalemia ,hypomagnesemia,one familial cond Large QT intervel syndrome also in which mutation in gene encoding cardiac K channels

cisapride,thyrodazine,erthromycine and TCA all increase theQT intervel.

you are correct drk1980 ! Sparfloxacin has two important SE : 1-QT prolongation (torsade) 2-Photosensitivity
