A 7-year-old child becomes seriously ill, with bloody diarrhea and painful abdominal cramping, 6days after attending a birthday patty at a local fast-food restaurannt. he is afebrile, but dehydrated and unresponsive. fecal examination is notable for absence of leukocytes, but the stool is frankly bloody. which of the following toxins has the similar mechanism of action to that f this pathogen? A Chilera toxin B Diphtheria toxin C Escherichia coli labile toxin D Pertussis toxin E Shiga toxin Who knows the answer? I did this before and I chose choice E, but Now, I think the answer should be choice C. Because the child is afebrile, and i think most of the patients who have shiga is febrile. I am not sure this. NEEd YOUR HELP!!! THANKS.

i would go for shiga like toxin first heat labile toxin stimulates the adenylate cyclase and causes watery diarrhea, heat stable toxin stimulates the guanylate cyclase shiga toxin produces bloody diarrhea, but in e coli, etec does not produce bloody diarrhea, only epec and ehec produces bloody diarrhea, so i would go for shiga toxin
