Due to a low NBME score, up coming CS exam on Dec 6 and the fact that USMLE closes for 2 weeks i plan on taking it around Jan 15th. I think my score will come in Feb 08. I have an 85 on step 1 and have applied to 125 psych programs. I have 2 interviews to go to so far. i have the following questions:
1) Do i have a chance of matching in the regular match?
2) Should I go for my interviews?
3) Will i sitll be able to get more interviews?
i have asked this question many times with no luck. Please help me out. Thanks.

Do not cancel ur interviews...u might still have a chance but if u cancel u will have a zero percent chance to match..try to take CK asap..preferably b4 31st december...schedule ur interviews for january..in the meantime concentrate on taking CS n CK..u should consider urself lucky having 2 interviews with average step 1 score[ dont mean to dishearten u but thats the fact] while some people who r even certified dont have any interviews so far..hope this helps..good luck

thanks. it does. but i need a passing CK score. i have to take 2-3 weeks off from CK prep for the CS. there is no way i will be able to take it till late dec. the problem is that the usmle closes from Jan 1- Jan 15th so my score will come around the same time if i take it dec 31 or jan 17 (goes by wednesdays i think.) one interview is in dec and one in jan.

last year i took my step 2CK on 22nd december..score was reported on 20th jan but i got it on 24th jan..there is a gr88 possibility that ur score might not be reported b4 end of rank order list submission date ie. 22nd Feb....good luck

if i take it jan 17-18 and it comes out 4 wednesdays after u take it that means my score comes in feb 8th. 10 days for certification so that is feb 18th. what should i do??
btw can u tell me more on what happened in your situation. u have been really helpful.
another idea i have is postponing my CS to dec end and preponing my CK to mid december. also remember i score 310 and 320 recently on NBME. i have to pass the step 2, not just take it. thanks again.

Hi guys!
I have a question: my handwriting is awful and I'm going to type the PN on CS. I am worried however that I might not have enough space. So far I practiced writing the PN bullet-style but this takes a lot of space. They say that space for typed PN is comparable with paper but what does this really mean? Thanks a lot!

sga430..well if u can postpone ur CS to dec-end n prepone ur Ck to mid december that might give u some advantage..also check ur inbox

I have no clue abt typing the PN coz i wrote my PN coz i was not sure of my typing speed..though my handwriting was very bad [ im sure they hired someone to decipher my writing ]...but i managed to pass...ask someone who has typed the PN..good luck

On ECFMG guidelines if you want to have your results in time for the match you need to give the exams by 31st December.

is that for ck as well. it is tru for cs. anyhow i was mistaken. usmle does not close, it is the promtric that closes early jan i believe as my friend got her result jan 7 for a mid dec ck exam. so i will try and take it late dec. is it ok to change my interview date?

hey sga430....i am in the same situation...i need to ask u, if by chance my result is not available before the ROL deadline...i will be automatically withdrawn from the match..but will i be able to participate in the scramble...as i am already registered with NRMP....

sga, try taking the kaplan 5 day crse. u can prepare for the cs within 10 days total. and rest of the tme u an use for ck prep. just a personal viewpoint cause i found the course to be really usefull but ofcourse expensive!!!!!!!!

dont even think about cancelling ur iviews. if all the 3 progs are of ur choice and ur iview goes good and if u get scores before rol - u can match... normally imgs go to their 4th rank on rol - so u have good chance..
what do u have to lose - a few days prep and some money
what do u have to gain - a whole year
ur call bro. i wud go out with all guns blazin and if somethin gets superbly screwed - theres always next yr and u have the chance to better ur cv with an externship or usce in psychiatry. i personally have lost all hope for this yr - but im sure of kickin @$$ next yr...
u ve got nothin to lose... as u will match this yr itself bro
