I wish I could have. But you can only take the Step 2CS in the US. You're allowed to take Step 1 and Step2 CK outside the US in a prometric test centre and you pay extra to do this!!

Courageous..lindsae. I have a q. though ? Why are u leaving the UK for the US ? Im asking this bec. a while back i was thinking of changing directions to the UK. However i always get discouraging comments from friend s who are already there telling me how difficult it is to find a job. So what exactly is the deal with the UK.

Another Q. Seeing that ur done with the exam, step 1 to be exact how much emphasis wouldu put on solving Kaplan Qbank.....prior to the exam. My exam is on the 29th , 2 weeks to go & thats pretty much the only thing i do.Or I can do. I get to restless sitting down to actually read anything from any source. So am I alright. Or am i doomed.

Congratulation,lindae32!

You make me shock! Excellent.

Did u used FA for your review?

Laura, do you mean First Aid books? They were the only 2 books I used as well as Kaplan Qbank 1 month and i did the NMBE practice test.

Kickinit, I have finished my training in Paediatric Critical Care and have a job in Ann Arbor, Michigan for a year to gain more experience. I have worked in Canada for a year also and going abroad is great for a different experience and I highly recommend it. UK is really good for clinical exposure.

As for the exam, Kaplan was all I had and I did the questions everyday as well as read my First Aid books(minus the Biochemistry section). I spent more time on Microbiology and Pharmacolgy as I thought were high yield but was disappointed when no questions on Lyme Disease came up!

Best of Luck

Sweet... then I guess I just need to read thru first aid & solve somemore q's. How reassuring.

Lindae...another q.grin....i know , i know.... q's q's...Im really sorry for being a pest .But its always nice to hear from someone whos been there & done that.In ur last messages u said u worked in Canada & ur going to work at Anarbor MI. And i know how having US experience is def. a plus when seeking a residency. My Q...What sort of work can one get without a US licensce .Do u mean research ...Or Is it an Observership . And if its not too much to ask...how can I find such an oppurtunity.

P.S: Where can I get a hold of this NBME practice test. Is it free ?Is it online?

Thanx ALOT for all the help.

How could you work in CANADA?they are really stick to very tough rules to allow IMGs to practice in CANADA.you must have license to touch the patients.shaking head

Good luck.

I was a clinical fellow. With UK qualifications you do not need a licence for up to 2 years in a recognised post if they want you. Unlike the US which is why I needed the USMLE to get a visa.

The NMBE website has the test fro $45. No answers just your score.
