In the area of the basal ganglia or thalamus. The posterior limb of the internal capsule...this just sprang to my mind as well... I am not sure but i remember having read of pons as being the most common site as well..i think the ques was in Q bank.But i think pons should be a less common site.What do you think ujaala?

Hey! The PUTAMEN is the most common site.. not the Pons . Other than that, remember- CharcotBouchard aneurysms in the lenticulostriate arteries for HT bleed. These arise from the Middle cerebral artery.

hmm.. according to Robbinsand BRS , mc sites are putamen and thalamus (followed by cerebellum and pons) according to Q bank explanation of a question, m.c is basal ganglia followed by internal capsule, so i guess we shall learn 1. putamen (basal ganglia) and 2 either thalamus or int capsule...
