Hi guys,i will be taking the usmle step one in 10 days (10th of november 2005),and i based my preparation on doing first aid (review it 3 times) and the kaplan Q bank(2100 questions),however based on ur comments i understood that the first aid is not enough to do very well on the exam cos it lacks some material, therefore ide really appreciate it if based on ur preparatory or exam experiences you can enlighten me on what r the lacking subjects in the first aid and WHERE TO SUPPLEMENT THIS LACK (i mean what other sources should i use to suppplement this lack) especially that i still have only 10 days for the exam,

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi there

Well you could look at Kaplan, but honestly I think u should read first aid again or do NBME and see where u are at. Don't over whelm urself, at 10 days left. Okay take care.

I think you can try NBME, plssss don't freak out. control your nerves and go ahead. Read ONLY those materials from which you already prepared from. Don't even think for using any new material.

thanks shakeels and mavis, however guys i was just wondering if knowing the first aid really well is could garentee u a good score, i am kinda confused, since based on my preparation i am doing well in the Qs,hoevwr i hear here and there that first aid should be supplemented with other material, not to mention that many people also mentioned that first aid is the bible and if u know ur first aid very well then thats all what u need to score high in additionn to doing Qbank. Could you please clarify that for me especially those who r familiar with first aid and allready took the exam. Thank u alot

If you read FA earlier then you can re read it , and if not I wouldn't recomend it. I know 3 guys who even didn't touch FA and got score above 90. Don't worry, and as I said, don't even think to use new material in the last 10 days of your exam..

Last 10 days, MEMORIZE Pharm from First Aid. Review all those formulas you left for last (Cardio, Resp., Statistics, Hardy Weinberg,etc..) Don't waste any more time on your review books. You need to be able to nail the subjects on FA.
