can somebody explain the difference between right dominant coronary circulation from the left dominant coronary circulation???i m hearing this for the first time ......and in Q bank there is a terminolgy posterior descending artey from the coronary circulation , is this the other name for posterior interventricular artery??????

hey karusmle right circulation is called dominant circulation when the posterior interventricular artery arises from the right coronary artery and vice versa posterior descending aretry =posterior interventricular artery

OOPS.....SORRY! HERE'S THE CORRECTED ONE: RIGHT dominant coronary circulation is when the Post. descending artery (PDA) arises from the Right Coronary Artery (RCA). Common in 80% of people. LEFT dominant coronary circulation is when th LEFT CIRCUMFLEX ART. arises from the Post descending art...in only 20% of people. If you have blockage of the LEFT dominant circ., it would affect the blood supply to the post 1/2 of the interventricular septum (supplied by the PDA) and the LEFT ventricular wall (supplied by the L circumflex art) Blockage of RIGHT dominant circulation...affect 1/2 of interventricular septum and areas supplied by the RCA (Right ventricle, SA and AV node, posterior & inferior wall of the Left ventricle) Hope this helps....

thank u guys for ur help,Dr.mary i think u typed it wrong , for post descending artery arising from right coronary artey u typed it as right coronary artey arising from post descending artey , anyway thanks .................
