Hi - i just have this major doubt 'cos I always pick the wrong answer in UW .

in a guy with Atr Fibr - if hes hemdyn unstable - the 1st thing is cardiovert - right? But why isn't it ABC"s first?

The question had both endotrach intubn and cardiovert in its choices - so please can someone clarify? The expln just said why to cardiovert which I know but what about the ABC's?

Thanks, feel so miserable ca'nt get concepts in my head!!

ABC takes time around 5-10 minutes...By the time the patient would be already dead....I guess

yes ARJ is right, intubation would waste a lot of crucial time...in these ppl shocking the heart will restart their breathing and circulation..so if unstable......shock shock shock!....but if chronic AFib.........I think we have to anticoagulate before shocking

Thanks guys - I went back to Kapaln and the guy in the opera falling on the lady and read it once again and it made sense.

b27 - I'm doing horribly - I'm averaging 54 - and ranging from 46 to 60 so I'm not sure what I should do either. I've read kaplan once and now I'm going to read it all over again - exams onthe 26th of Nov so don't know if I shud take a chance or forfeit the $ (can't extend againsad)

BTW Nisha - are those std q's - I'm finding them tough - I was too nervous about posting the answers but I only got 2 out the 5 right.-shaking head sigh
