Hello,

Could someone pls tell me how i shd go abt doing Patho. I have both Kaplan notes & Goljan 500 pg notes. I was wondering if it'll be ok if i listened to Goljan's lectures & then read from Kaplan. Somehow seeing the volume of Goljan's notes,I feel I'll never be able to complete it.

Pls someone tell me wht to do!! I plan to start Patho soon.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I suggest u do Goljan, I did BRS initially( 1 reading) then I got Goljan, if u listen his lectures u will have no problem in going through his notes bcoz what u hears, the same u will see in his notes.

mddoc pal

if u listen to his notes and then go through his notes u will consume less time but i would suggest tat for ur first read take a big long to make ur concepts are cleared

as im a slow reader i would take abt a month or so for tat

anyways best of luck

Hey Mdcod26

Try getting the Rapid Review Pathology by Goljan from Amazon (ISBN: 0323023932 ). Its has more reasonable # of pages (~300 or so) than his 500+ pages notes, and it follows his audio lectures quite closely. I would definitely recommend this book!

GL,

try dealing with goljan stuffs after completing biochemistry, microbiology and even pharmacology cause it has lots of spin-offs into different subjects.

probably what I'm about to say will be considered heresy by many... but this is what works for me.. I'm studying from BRS as my first source but I am also watching Barone's videos from kaplan wich I found more helpful than goljan audio and his 500 pg book... why is that? I am not a good pathologist Im the kind of person that started his patho review from zero (I have already studied biochem and physio prior to study pathology)... so Dr barone in the videos takes time to explain all those basic things you should know before looking a micrograph... his lectures are more board directed than BRS book.. So I copy every little detail the he says in his videos and that are not found in BRS, I even draw the micrographs in the book... He emphasizes on high yield content wich I like.. ever since I have been watching his videos
i feel that I can study BRS in a more board directed fashion, more efficiently.. I did goljan audio and read his book for the first week.. he is great but I was not able to identify many micrograph pathologies..... all the integration he does is great but in order to fully understand what he says you must first master the basic concepts wich BRS & kaplan videos/book combo does great ... I'm just talking my personal experience.. and remember there are many paths to achieve your goal, just pick the one that suits you...
