College freshman has 15-lb weightloss. In last 1 month, difficulty concentrating and missing classes. avoids friends. skips meals. watches tv in room alone. sleeps alrite. early awakening. current weight: low-normal. feels guilty about academic performance.

Diagnosis?

g patient is feeling guilty
e energy
c pt can't concentrate
a q doesn't specify loss of appetite, but pt has weight loss
p psychomotor
s suicide

The patient meets 4 of the criteria, and had symptoms for over two weeks...
which is diagnositic for major depression

req, 6 mos to diagnose major depression but the clinical hx. presents to it even if it just happened a month ago. I think clinical presentation matters here.
