hi all,
took exam in atlanta at the end of september. oasis updated today- 27thoct . I passed.
studied for 15 days using usmleworld only. practiced on a friend.
during the exam, forgot to counsel many times. repeated a few questions to the patient even though they had answered it already. sat and thought infront of the patient a couple of times. was late and couldnt finish examination on 2 cases. one patient had a tad bit of problem understanding me.
rest all went well. dressed neatly, asked most of the pertinent questions, washed hands, showed empathy. was respectful, maintained eye contact, answered their questions.
in a nutshell, it was a pretty avg affair. i was scared to death about the results specially since i have already applied to a lot of programs a nd my life hung in balance.
so this is a big relief. Best of luck to everybody who is about to take exams . questions are welcome. will try answer to the best of my abilities.

Hello ,
I am just starting the preparation. Dont know how to start .. would u please give me some advise in brief . My exam is scheduled in last week of december .. Already applied to programs . Very much worried ....whether I would pass .. whether I would be able to match in 2006 .....
Any input is highly appritiated ..

i took my exam at the end of sept 2005.
usmleworld is enough for prep.
its best to get somebody else who is preparing for it and practice together. do timed practice. before u begin however, acquaint urselves with the basics guven before the practice cases, that is read thru it.
read others experiences on this forum. some are very good.
i took 2 weeks to prepare.
if u feel confident u can take it before step 1 as well, however, it might be a better idea to take it after step 1. that ways u will be better acquainted with the diseases and what questions u need to ask. but its not absolutely essential.
