I have done surgery and started Internal medicine. I am done with GI, Rheumatology, Endo, Preventive and emergency med.

Today i finished my Cardiology ,ending it with doing UW.

(Feel free to use it as a log book ,recording your progress and taking motivation ,but please dont post anything else , make a separate topic smiling face no offense. )

Hi kingsofke! It really is a better idea to to keep a logbook than pm each other. I did this for Step 1 and it really helped me stay focussed.
Okay I am doing Kaplan notes. Right now I am on Int Med: cardio. I did the exact same ones as you. Hopefully will be done with Cardio in a day or two and then do Inf ds.
Doing UW random blocks and scoring between 55 and 70 percent.

done half of psychi..its kind of like a repetition of step 1 beh science.hardly anything new so far.

  #6

okay just started inf ds in IM. will not get much time today but hopefully should be doing okay by the end of the weekend. kingsofke are the video/DVD a better way of remembering things? I am reading but it is harder to remember what the best diagnosis tool is and which one you will do first. is there some rule when you do a CT or when you do MRI or a plain Xray?

drworm, try "most commons in medicine" by goljan. I intend to go through it quickly once I am confident with Kaplan material. It has diagnostic tests and confirmatory tests, which one is sensitive, specific etc. in neat columns. I will start Renal system today. Very shaky with Cardiology. Scored around 50% in UW. Am thinking about listening to Goljan step one Cardiology lectures to help me in understanding the basics of cardiology better. Any suggestions?

I would like to get my hand on these goljan lectures and book, anyway I can Lisa? Yes kaplan dvds are definitely very helpful to make you remember these q's (by the way i scored 77% in cardiology UW) , have listened to cornard hematology and going thru OHCM for it.

Hey Lisa what is "most commons in medicine" by Goljan? I have the step 2 audio which is very overlapping and bad. No notes to go with that either. I don't know if I was ripped off by ebay. But I don't know which Goljan MC ur talking about.
Good to see a lot of higly motivated people here. Kingsofke you are doing great. Your UW scores are great. I was under the impression most people siad that UW scores were around 70% because it was harder. You are doing wonderful.
My weekend was really slow. Did not get much done. Should be finishing IM today. I know I should have this weekend but too many other things going on too. did questions random frm UW. Still scoring between 65 and 72%.

  #16

Just finished listening to cornard. Will do step3 cases for Infectious disease tomorrow and then UW. Your doing great drworm.all the best.

I was thinking of skiping OHCM for Infectious disease but when ilooked at it ,it had so much not given in kaplan (much of parasito and ricketsia, spirochete etc.) So i go through all of it (i dont know if it is needed or not) And then started step3 cases and half of it are done. Rest tomorrow and then UW.

Hi, finally Infectious diseases overwith. I found UW harder for it esp the antibiotic of choice decisions. (got 73%). Started nephrology from kaplan.

Hi, Sorry for the late response. Most commons in medicine is a text book by Goljan. It is not the same as the lecture notes. The ISBN is 0721687598. It is mostly in tabular form.

Kingsofke, 73 to 82 in UW! wow! drworm, you are not doing too bad yourself! Now I am beginning to wonder how I even passed step one as I am scoring around 50s. Just need more work on my basics. I will get there too!

Starting again after a 5 day break. Dont even have a plan for today yet.shaking head
