Hi guys... got my ECFMG certificate and the interview invitations are starting to trickle in and I feeling good about myself. But before I go and party for this achievement, I am wondering should I be worrying about Step 3 first? Im applying to FM/IM programs in California, and Im a permanent resident in the US. I heard that if Im dont an H1 visa, I dont have to take step 3 right away... is this true? If so, when am I supposed to take it? Hoping for your replies...

Yeah its right u don't have to give step 3 right away if u dont need H1 .Most of residents give it at the end of 1st year.

Do you think a person has better chances of successfully take it at the end of 1st year? It's just that Im afraid I might not have enough time to review if the 1st year is particularly difficult... But on the other hand, they said the residency helps a lot and you will have a much easier time if you take it after some sort of post graduate training. At least I know I dont have to worry about it just yet. I guess I should start putting together review materials anyway. Thanks for the reply!
