Guys! where are the interviews?I am still waiting for any interviews.No response as yet from any programs.I am applying for surgery.Any good news for your guys as yet.I think that most of the programs are waiting for November 1 before sending out invitations for interviews.What do you think?Did any one of you get interviews from Texas,Florida,georgia etc?Look forward to your feedback.

I am am IMG.As fas as I know there are no special requirements for Texas and Florida.I am just wishing that interviews start coming in after November 1.From the various posts I have gathered that not many Surgery interviews have been offered as yet.Just that a couple of candidates have got interviews in a lot of hospitals.Let us hope for the best.smiling face

I wont mind Florida.Though I would definitely prefer a warmer place over New England especially Texas.However it all depends on where the interviews come from.Lets see.

I have few questions to our senior members or anyone who can help!

I am interested in a residency programme in Surgery, applied for the match 2006 and I have been shortlisted for 4 prelim jobs (just depressing as I applied for 101) in no-university programmes, my questions are:

1- Is it woth-it attending the interviews with this low nb of interviews?

2- If offered a job, should I accept it knowing they aren’t University programmes?

3- What are my chances for next year to get a categorical in a Univers Hosp?

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

PLEASE DO ANSWER!!!

hi sofianee, i donīt you if you have passed some steps, your scores or are you ECFMG certified in this moment, that has something to do. If you have USCE, GC?.

But of course itīs worthy to attend the interviews you got, being positive you only need 1 interview to get a position. Youīll never know what would have happened if you had gone to those interviews. Do you know what i mean?. Who tells you that you will get a categorical position in a univ program the next year, you canīt be sure of it. I donīt know if you are very very interested in research or in university program, then itīs your decision, i would accept any job if they offer you (like a prematch or match, anyway).

Dear Sofianee,

I totally agree with Chemamr.It is worthwhile to accept the position this year.Most of the programs based on your performance in prelim year give you a categorical position;if you are lucky they might get you second year categorical.In case of worst scenario that they do not offer anything after preliminary yr it would strengthen your application when you apply again next year.I think you should definitely go for the interviews.I have heard of cases where ppl were so good during the interviews that they given categorical position though they were called for prelim interview.However this all depends on the program director's discretion.Anyways good luck and keep posting.

Hey chemamr how are things with you?I just got a regret from Jonhs Hopkins.I guess I should not have applied there.Keep in touch.

Yes I am sure that there will be more interviews.Most of the interviews are in November end and December for categorical programs.The invites for preliminary programs are sent as late as January so do not worry.Things are not as bad as they look.There will be a second wave of interviews.So keep up the smile.Things will work out.
