How can iodide cause hypothyroidism if it is used in making thyroid H?

Too much iodide is a signal to inhibit the conversion process of thyroxine to T3

The thyroid can either do ONE of two things, either it can grab iodide or it can put out T3 and T4, it can't do both things at once. So, if you give iodide in a thyroid storm, you will decrease T3 and T4 production. (It's basically a downregulation)
