If a SP comes for a follow up of HTN or a recently diagnosed or to confirm the HTN. Should we check BP again (i mean, we have the values in the doorway information)?? and in both arms? In which cases should we check BP again and in which should we do it in both arms?. I´m a little here. Because we have the value in the doorway. And in the USMLE official website says that even if we measure the BP, we must still considering the value they give us for our dx and workup, etc. THANK YOU for your help here

I read a similar post somewhere , but basically you dont have to. You have to assume the vital signs are real and accurate. If you consider it is important to double check BP (new diagnosis) then write it down in your diagnostic work up as orthostatics and you will save time.It would be extremely hard to fake hypertension no matter how good of an actor the SP is
