you need to get an extension. No, you will not lose your money. But you have to pay 50 US to extend your testing period. www.ecfmg.org Read the explanations here, they are very easy and precise. GL

hello friends, I put my Q wrong!!!!!!! I had taken my USMLE step 1 exam slot for june-july-august. Then i postponed my exam for the next slot by paying $50. Now, I am unable to take exam in the extended slot and wish to further postpone/ reapply. Kindly, someone let me know whether i will lose money already paid during initial application? If yes, then will i lose any money and how much? Thanks victory

You can only take test within your assigned period, which you choose initially, and then you are only able ONCE to get a 3 months extension. If you cant take the test during those 6 months, you will lose the money, and you will have to reapply to ECFMG and pay the appropriate fees. You can always check the official website, for an official answer. GL
