Precisely how can you tell the difference between duodenal atresia, malrotation of bowel and annular pancreas?

clinically these may be quite confusing duodenal atresia may or may not present with bilious vomiting depending on level of obstruction, other 2 usually have bilious vomiting. Differentiation can be made by contrast studies and sonography

First of all I wud like to congratulate U fr makin us THINK abt it. BRAVO ! good Q. *1, Clinical features : Annularpanc. : other cardiac anomalies too present with atresia + malrotation of intestine. Duodenal atresia: trisomy21 with VATER anomalies; early vomiting in duod. atresia n annular panc., delayed vomiting in lower bowel malrotation. *2, ABD-X-Rays : will surely play a major part before US/ contrast. TRY to find out the distinguishin features fr each on plain Xray. (itz possible !) (hint : single/double bubble sign) (air fluid level) *3, US n contrast study *4, CT-scan abd. rest i agree with MANI... but all the cases r managed by Ped.Surgeon.
