Infectious monuculeosis is sometimes detected only when the patient develops a characteristic polymorphous rash after taking ampicillin for an apparent upper respiratory tract infection. what is this phenomenon ? Anyone have a picture of this rash ?

I've never seen it, yet I heard of it many times. It can be confused with atopic rash... affects most often chest and arms. Apparently it's very difficult to notice in black patients, so it must consist of spots rather than papulae...

my guess is: drug related, as it only occurs after administration of ampicillin in IMN pt.
