hi ever since i got into this usmle thing ,the problem dont seem to end.I just came to know about a program whose deadline for step 3 is 31st dec does it mean i need to have my results by then. secondly plz bbb tell me what is h1 cap( searched alot andcould not understand) thirdly if i want to do internal medicine residency and latter fellowship in GI then is it possible on a j1 without a break(i mean getting over with residency and fellowship in 6years) srry for posting such a long question but plz help

There are two kinds of H1 tracks - cap and cap exempt The H1 cap means that the US government has put a limit - a cap - on the number of H1b visas it will issue every year. When it's reached, the cap, quota, limit is filled for the year. Cap exempt programs mean that they don't have to worry about the government reaching the limit because that rule doesn't apply to them. They can get visas issued for their institution. Doing IM, then GI, on a J1 visa is the preferred way to go. Good luck
