This was frustrating, cause I did not know this fact. Is it really computer adaptive , I dont see any mention of it in the usmle/ecfmg websites.... ? Is it really computer adaptive?

The exam IS NOT computer adaptive, although they are working on it. At least thats what the first few pages of USMLE1 first aid says.

You can calculate your percentile knowing your 3 digit score, wich i guess should be around 234 right? Knowing that the mean on 3digit is 215 and the SD is 20*, if your score is indeed 235 on 3dig you rank in the 84th percentile, Congratulations !! *See First aid for step1 in the first few pages. (p. 13 in the 2002 edition)

That is correct... It is NOT computer adaptive. At this time all questions are worth one point. When computer adaptation is used there are different values assigned to each question depending on how difficult the makers assess the question to be. Thankfully we don't have to worry about that, yet! I do know a way around computer adaptive tests if I have to face it in the future!
