I just finished my step 3 today. I found a lot of questions seemed to revolve around what the best thing to say to patients under certain circumstances. There seemed to be a lot of ethical type questions. I didn't have much of a problem with time on any of the question blocks, but when it came to CCS, I know I made some stupid mistakes. The cases were fairly straight forward, but I am not in a residency yet. My questions is how much is that part of the exam weighed towards your final score? I know I messed up on 1, maybe 2 of the cases. I'm a little nervous about my results, but there is nothing I can do right now. It's tough not to think negative about your performance after tests like this. Has anyone had any similar experiences and still passed this exam? Basically I am looking for something to cheer me up. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey Dev, I took Step 2 in July and have been studying since then for this test. I used the usual books, crush Step3, Kaplan step 2 and step3, boards and wards, etc... I was averaging 74-82% on Qbook tests, and about 72% on Kaplan Qbank (3/4 of the questions). USMLE world was helpful because I am not in residency. I only used them for the CCS cases. However, the casees I had on the test usually finished before I could get to the point of ordering most of the follow up type of things that were on the UW cases. For example, I had a case of trichomoniasis. It ended right after I perscribed flagyl and conseled to treat her partner. Most of the cases ended abruptly like that. From what I remember, I had: 2 pediatric cases, 3 ER cases, 4 office visits with one that I put in the hospital. I don't know how much detail I can go into without getting in trouble. I hear the FSMB is patrolling these sites. The cases were fairly straight forward except for one. The weird one I had was polycystic kidney disease. Have you taken the test yet? What was your experience?
