hello everyone, First the good news- Did get a satisfactory score on the nbme's. Form2-550 and form3-600. The bad news- the scores may have been biased cause have done it in the self paced mode.... Also have the exam now on the 12th. I thought i wasnt ready and postponed it before i took the nbme3. Anyways, whatever maybe the outcome, i think i cant read more than this. Rather there are questions on the test which you cant answer because you have read the info but rather by simple logic and deduction of the choices.. So lord- help me and give me the courage to get through this exam... Lots of people around me have had to go through a lot of trouble cause of me and my exam... temper tantrums, irratic behaviour and have made a lot of people sad by the things i have said out of sheer pressure and frustration. I have all that in my mind and once am done with this, gonna try to be a nice human being. Give all the people that i have hurt and yet they have never reacted, all the love in the world... I know i have my family behind me who think i am to be the greatest doc in the world whatsoever happens on the test. Can never get over the debt that i have accumulated from there unconditional love..... Achilles, buddy with the amount of hardwork that you have put in, i would say a 450 equivalent would not be doing justice. My analysis would put you in the high 90's. Dont get disheartened- i got a 520 on my nbme1, i postponed the exam and now i feel much more confident. You have the knowledge i would say, its the way you apply it. Do more and more questions. Kaplan qbank is a good bet assuming you are done with usw. Kaplan int. med. qbank also is a reasonable choice if you have the time and resources... Lisa-Good to know that you are all set for the match..... How did you do on the step2ck, that is if you are done with it and if you have any last minutes tips, will be glad to have them.....

yes drkpp i was hoping to do well than i actually did but it was a good experience and a wake up call and now i guess i need to put it more efforts than i am and to overcome my weaknesses and then take nbme 2 and take it from there. i am looking at 3rd week of july as the tentative exam day. and thanks to you, drkpp, i took my nbme 1. time to go to work. good luck for your exam drkpp. i hope you'll still be around after your exam.

Glad to know about your grand NBME scores, drkpp. I got 226/92 in CK. I dont think I have any tips that you are not aware of already. Achilles, keep working on your weak areas and I am sure it will show in your NBME form 2 scores. I am sure drkpp will keep track of your progress atleast till you finish your exam. I will! All the best to both of you!

thanks so much for all the encouragement and motivating posts. i have started doing medicine again as this was the area where i scored less and that is most of the exam so i'd better do it well. i had a prob with recollecting a lot of things so i need a good review. i plan to finish medicine in the next 15 days. tough task for a slowpoke like me but i'll try. thanks lisaM. thats really nice of you. and this must be the best feeling. the match is coming and you are all ready and roaring to go. wish you the best always.

Hi achilles, drkpp, Can u pl tell me that once nbme gives you score like 400--500-- etc, then how do you get the exam correlation in the 2 or 3 digit score, and percentile. Is that too given by the website , or has it been guessed by exam-takers like us. I have seen the correlation posted by someone in this forum too. Would i have to just follow that. I have to take nbme in a week, your reply'll be really helpful.Thanx.

Hi folks, can I ask you a question about nbme: when I logged on the nbme, there are a list of tests, are those called "comprehensive clinical tests" (3 in total) the ones for step 2 practice? Please help!

yes, the step 2 ones are the 3 CCSSA tests. 3535, after you finish the test you will get your performance analysis, and then another page of score equivalents (nbme....step 2), so that actually each nbme score has its correspondent step 2 three digit score.

thats right. after finishing the nbme just scroll down and you will find the score equivalents in a table form that corelates the nbme score with a three digit score on the exam. good luck for your nbme.

hey drkpp, looking at your nbme scores i think you are well prepared and you must get over with this exam but you are the best judge. i know what you might be going thru but this is the usmle and i hope yu get support and things calm down for you so that you can concentrate for the exam. just calm down, ask for 4 more days and then solve whatever prob you have right now after 4 days. dont postpone the exam, postpone the prob. and then dont even think about it for the next 4 days. just think whatever it is you will deal with it after 4 days. hope it helps.

drkpp, i'm taking it on the 12, are you going on the same day? married life will always have "issues", that's a given, but they all come and go. this is not the first, and won't be the last one. but step 2!!!??? it's your only chance to crown your effort of months and months of study with SUCCES. let the issue appart for now, tell your spouse that you love her/him now and always and that you need all his/her support now, more than ever. and focus your energies on preparing mentally for the big battle. i don't know how these last days are going for you studywise, but i feel like I'm in an airport, waiting for an airplane to finally come. I'm not doing a lot of studying, I can't, i'm just reading here and there, doing a few qs here and there, and counting the hours go by. I think these last days don't really count that much, it's what we put into it on the long run, starting a few months ago. last minute cramming doesn't work for USMLE. I felt that on my step 1 also. Good luck to you and see you on the other side of the fence in a few days...

very well said alina T. drkpp this will go on in life and remember all those people you read about. they must have gone thru all this too and they still made it. these exams test a lot more than just knowledge at times. so go out there and do it. i am sure you are going to do gr8. you have good scores to back it up so you are well prepared. hit the exam for a six(thats a home run in cricket) ! good luck to both of you-drkpp and alina T.

Thank you so so so so much people. I tried to talk to her and atleast she has promised to think over it before calling it off. No promises but at least there is a ray of hope. This itself was good enough to sleep for 2 hrs straight after 3 days....... Up again and anxiety building up, took alprazolam and has helped a minimal..... Will try to sleep once again and see if i can. Tomorroew will try to solve some more blocks and lets see if almighty will see me through this one of the toughest times ever in my life...

Pray to Him and He will pull you through. i'm glad your torment cooled down for a while, unfortunately becoming a doctor in USA means at times postponing time out, fun and even feelings and problems. life's gotta pause in favor of this exam. no fair....but hey, 2 more days!! you need lots of sleep now, it's even more important than qs or reading notes. I had an awful time before my step 1, when because of anxiety i guess, I couldn't sleep normally for 10 nights before my exam. i was literally exhausted and my body crashed (to my luck) right the night before the test, when I finally got good 7-8 hours of sleep. that saved me. i'm fine now, but i still dread the night before this test. let's hope for the best!
