In my search for General Surgery programs I'd like also to consider such an important thing as whether the program provides the following:
1. Medical insurance for the resident
2. Medical insurance for family memebers.
3. Dental Insurance.

Since I have a wife and two children, this can be of utmost importance for me.

Can anyone tell me how much in average could be annual medical insurance? For family? When the program says "Resident shares cost" is it close to 70 % or 50 %? What will be left for a living from lousy 40000$ after paying for rent and medical insurance?

Thanks alot.
Regards , and Good luck.

I'd give my right leg to earn a lousy $40,000!!! grin

My program has a co-pay for medical insurances - it's the same that I pay. Full medical, dental and vision calls me about $25 a pay for my husband and myself.

Good luck
