Hi Moozy

Go for an H1 wherever possible - it gives you more options down the track. And even if you match on a program offering J1, ask them if they could do an H1 instead.

Thanks Sanz for these questions, its worth a lot for people preparing for the interviews.

  #28

These are fantastic questions, and are very good to prepare....

But...

"How do you explain this bad score"

"how do you explain your bad scores?"

"Tell me more about this project you have"

"Do you have any questions for us?"

"What did you think of the resident evening?"

What do you like about this city?

Why do you want to come to this city?

Where did you grow up, and why did you leave?

I hate this town, what makes you like it?

"What makes you think you'll feel comfortable here?"

Don't freak out if someone talks more than you...

Be yourself... It's nerveracking, but think about these questions and the above questions thororughly... You'll do fine.

"Do you have any questions for us?"
This is the question which some interviewers like to begin with (my experience!). So be prepared.

  #32

wow, that is a huge list, and I think way too much. I only applied for surgery so I can't speak for the other specialties. Some questions I was asked at every program were:

1. why X (insert specialty)?

2. why are your strengths and weaknesses?

3. what will you bring to this program?

4. what do you think of the 80-hr work week?

5. tell me about yourself.

this one I was asked by only a couple of programs, not all:

why did you go to a Caribbean school?

I found this list in another forum. I thought it might be useful for here and we can make additions to it if something new is asked.

From another forum:

"This question was posed to me in every one of my interviews, and I suspect that many of you will also face this potentially silent killer: “So, can you tell me a little about yourself?”

heres one that stumped me (not the most likely though)--name something in ur character that ur mother dislikes!
another was name one reason u want to convey to me that would make me want you in our program.
also the famous 'icebreakers' where applicants introduce themselves in a group and are asked to talk on any topic---from benign 'fav movies' to 'something no one know about me till now'! the program faculty usually start these so it gives u some time....its fun actually but its always better to be prepared with ur 'embarrasing moment' in order to avoid that interview becoming just that!!

Can someone get their dream job being 100% honest?
