i got an offer to take an exam at Jamaica Hospital in new york. does anyone know about this test. this is the 1st positive response i got. i will post my info later when i get some more responses. i also got 5-6 rejections and one neutral "we recieved ur app" message.

here are my stats: diploma dated jan 94 born US citizen step 1 85/209 yet to take others usmles informal USCE mildly related to psychiatry at allergy clinic worked as biofeedback tech minor carpal tunnel glove research a assistant editor credit for a book on reversing heart disease volunteered for katrina victims applied to 125 psych programs everywhere but cali and puerto rico here is the list of programs that contacted me so far. only one was postive. the one from jamaica. one was neutral. i got 2 interviews. 1 from hartford, CT- life something community program and another from lubbock, TX -texas tech university.

I still dont have any interviews in Psychiatry and im wondering what is going on. is it true that in order to get an interview from a hospital you should email the director/program co ordinators and show them your interest and push them for an interview slot?

i got one more interview in conneticut. yes for some programs it does help to call. a friend of mine did that for IM and got 2 more extra interviews this way.

Did any here interview at Austin Medical Education Programs of Seton Healthcare Network Program, and/or Texas A & M Scott and White Program for psychiatry? Can you tell me a little about your experiences there?

well there are 3 progs in CT. Yale was NOT one of them. The ones I got were IOL/hartford and UConn.

back then i only had 85 step 1 and no usce. for this season i got my ecfmg cert and psych usce and so far i got 15 interviews (my psych LoRs r yet to be uploaded.)

what about failing and repeating the second year of the medical school for the IMG with the usual low usmle scores and lack of us clinical experience is there still a hope in psychiatry residencies????????

1. IMG 2. H4 3. 2002 4. 91/99/cs pass/87, MD psychiatry from home country 5. observership for 9 months in psychiatry - 1 US LOR 6. applied to 40 psychiatry residency program 7. got 12 interviews 8. offered 2 prematches at albany and suny downstate - refused 9. matched at Yale university for psychiatry residency !

IMG 2000 B1, B2 99/95/ fail fail fail, PASS/87 USCE= 5 month observership, Psychiatry 1 month observership, IM LORs= from Americans for Psych, from my country for IM research= struggling, online work= general practice (fast tracks) in my country applic.= 10 IM 10 Psych Interv= 4 IM 2 Psych Matched at: Harlem Hospital, New York. My nr 1 choice.
