ooohhh i love french manicures, another option is getting it cut short and then buffed without polish, they look so nice and shiny and clean.

As long as you have clean and neat hands, this is one of the smallest things to worry about.

Hey guys, I just finished with all my interviews...now this is for women..Suits are a must. All earth colours- brown, black, grey , beige etc, with an inside top of your choice. Any kind of top will do,not necessarily a shirt., just make sure, the colour is an earthy combination- no pinks and yellows and fluoroscent etc..At ALL interviews, you would anyway see the whole bunch of interview candidates dressed in BLACK and WHITE. You can go with the mass if you want to, or stand out and look good by going for other colour combos! Shoes- Any black shoes- toes covered. Heels, you can wear if you want to, just that it may make you a bit uncomfortable, coz the hospital tours comprise of brisk walking for long. But I have seen lot of candidates wearing heels. Hair- you can do AS YOU WISH. you can leave all your hair open if you want to..anything that you do, just should give you a neat look.Best is, to pin up / tie up,..so that you dont have to push back your hair each time you nod / shake your head at the program director...heeeee Just dont colour your hair red / blue/ green / pink etc, since it honestly does not give an image of a serious Physician.- my opinion. Coming to make up- Do make up if you want to, just dont ''overdo'' it.Dress your face the way you feel, and others feel, you look BEST and professional. Take a smart Bag with you- It could be a file folder, / a business bag for carrying all your documents. Remember a PEN is a must. Always carry your visa document with you, as they do ask for it a lot of times. May times, if you have uploaded your LOR s or other employment certificates late, do not expect them to have it. They often dont check your ECFMG documents twice. So carry your new documents with you and DO NOT forget to mention them, since if you have uploaded them late, chances are., they have no idea about it. Jewellery- Simple earings- studs , wedding ring, watch, is more than enough. No big matching necklaces etc please. MORAL OF THE STORY- SMART BUSINESS ATTIRE.

For girls, i would say, wear a dark color suit that fits you well. Remember, the perfect fit is everything. I wore a black suit with a silk blouse, which was light blue...the combination was great! For jewelry, i wore a tahitian pearl set, which was elegant as well as simple. Personally, i feel, skirts look much better than a pant suit. Regarding the length of the skirt, it should definetely come to your knee or stay slightly above it. Best would be a skirt which is a bit fitting with a slight flare. For shoes, black heels (maybe one inch or so) is sufficient. Hair should be tied back. Make up should be minimal yet adequate...it should brighten up your face, not disguise it. Lastly, make sure to have a black folder or something with you to carry your documents in.

One thing I noticed during my interviews: All men were wearing very neat and elegant suits, while women were wearing veri cheap suits! I've noticed that for men, Spending even $500 on a suite is quite accepted, while it seems that women do not want to spend more than $100! Ok, lets not go crazy, but $200 for a neat and pretty suit should be acceptable. Ladies, please, we are as professional as our male colleagues, so why not dress as neatly as them? Ofcourse the best suit I've seen for women was a Gucci, $1000!!! What a shame! Even after I'm finished with my residency and have start working, I don't think I'll be able to spend $1000 for a suit! It's not fair...

Good observation, Petal - even if you find an inexpensive suit - pay to have it altered if it doesn't fit correctly. A good fit will make a cheap suit look more expensive. Good luck!

Hi bbb!ī What would you think about not wearing hair at all? I have cutted my hair since highschool because is confortable and clean. I dont shave it but I cut it every 5 days so its 2-3 mm short. Do you think this might be bad for my interviews? I've never had negative experiences in this regard but I dont know how is this considered by PDs. Greetings!!
