Is plasmacytoma and multiple myeloma the same?if answer option has both, how to differentiate?

  #2

hi thats a nice question, whenever i git it, just marked multiple myeloma

but i read it now and thats what it is,plasmacytoma is a tumour of plasma cells usually in one location, say the plasma cells in the bone or say the soft tissues may become malignant and hence may cause plasmacytoma, a plasmacytoma of the bone generally gets converted to a multiple myeloma later. but multiple myeloma is when the plasma cells in the bone marrow become malignant and hence, the plasma cells all over the body re malignant

hence to conclude, plasmacytoma is a solitary lesion whereas multiple myeloma, starts gen in the bone marrow and hence multiple sites

So ,lab finidings will be the same in both, are the solitary and mutliple leisons only differentiate these both??and when turn into malignancy ??

sorry for the late reply, but the lab values will be the same in both the cases.

a solitary will turn into multiple myeloma only when it is in the bone, think the bone means the bone marrow, so now the bone marrow will start forming defective plasma cells and hence this will be released into the blood and u will get what we call the multiple myeloma

multiple myeloma is a tumor of plasmatic cells (plasmacytoma), so if you have a clinical and lab case of MM, itīs better to choose multiple myeloma because there are other plasmacytomas.
