Hi guys

My exam was on aug24th,quite taxing. It is mainly about communication.sps are good.

start asking simple qs,talk slowly so that they understand you.

having a diffential diagnosis&PAM..... helps you But Do not try to memorise b,cos you have to listen to the sps to know exactly what to ask.

Do not ues medical terms(even for asthma you have to ask whether they have wheezing?

do not spend much time in physical exam ,only focus on the system of concern

be pleasant, keep smiling, say thanks when you are leaving

It is doable exam DO NOT MISS IT.DO NOT READ THEORY,practice(phone partner is ok)

GLnod

How u put the DD & DW cos they give u already, right.I'll sit exam in end of Oct. sometime I have blank & don't know how to continue my Q. I'm afraid to happen in real exam. Do u have clinical experience before? It's help u/

Have u attend Kaplan? How is the difference bt Kaplan cases & real exam? Nice to meet u ns

Hi nycnew

i attended Dr.Swartz course,it was helpful.I am a physician from united kingdom(basically from India).

In the door way you will see something like ..."55 yr old lady wtith dizzyness".When you see this atleast think about the common causes like any ear problems, recent change in drug, arrythmias ,HT etc before you enter the room.Inside the start asking qs to rule out each &every diffential diagnosois.Listen to the SPs carefully you will get many clues.

Always counsel about

1.what do you think as a probable diagnosis?

2.what could be the diffential diagnosis?(do not explain too many things you will end up in trouble)

3.what is your next step....investigations

4.After this tell them you will call them as soon as the results are available(not too long) so that you can discuss with them in detail about the management.

5. counsel about quitting alcohol& smoking if applicable

6.counsel about safe sex practices if applicable

7.counsel about age related screenig procedures like colonoscopy if applicable

8.talk about diet&exercise

9 in old pts ask about familly support.

ANY qs ?GL with your exams

most programs need cs result before you start the residency, you are safe do not worry. If your credentials are verified you will be certified as soon as you get you cs results.
