Kaplan Qbank USMLE

Hi guys,

I want to thank you all for helping me get through this exam, especially prep4usmle (I am Romanian, too!) . My exam was nothing like I've done before, to be honest I didn't expect it to be so hard! I've done UW, Kaplan Qbank, Qbook before, but this was way harder. The q's weren't longer, I had time to review the marked, although I rarely changed any answer. I had no images (maybe 1-2), no Q's from the usmle CD, no easy ones. I was dizzy after the first 4 blocks and I took my first (and last) break. After I returned, the last 4 seemed more do-able. I even missed simpler Q's, I realized afterwards, because I was thinking them too hard and I always thought there is a twist in each. I felt horrible afterwards, and I had nightmares about it until I did the Oasis trick and found out that I passed. I was so relieved. I receive the score a week ago and my jaw fell when I saw 92. So, this post is not a negative one as it started. And I want to encourage you all that even if you have a hard test that doesn't resemble anything that you've done, do your best, and YOU"RE GONNA BE FINE! smiling faceGood luck!

hey great job! congrats! could you tell me how you prepared? did you use kaplan notes? What about Goljan audio. Do you know if it is good?

Hey, Drworm,

I only used the Kaplan notes for all subjects. I took Qbank(Kaplan) about 4 months before the exam and didn't do a great job there (66%). Then I reviewed the books and took UW. I did 65% there. I had time before exam to review ~33% of those (if you have time repeat them after you've done them once-that is try to do them again not read only the explanations). Also I have done several tests from Qbook - and scored ~80%several days before exam. I didn't take NBME. Also right before exam I hit the books again and read them briefly (1 book a day). So, that was it. I went there pretty confident, as I thought step 2 will be like step 1 (I got out very happy from step 1 that I'll get a great score-I also took 92 there-a little less than I expected). But I guess they have a good balancing system between hard and easy tests. So everything turned out fine. Let me know if you have any other q's.

Oh, I forgot, I had Goljan audio but didn't have time to listen to it. I am doing something else full time.

Thank you all so much,

I gave my exam on August 26th and it was the old format that I knew from step 1.I took CS this week, on Sept. 27th in Atlanta andhave posted my experience in the CS forum. I think I did fine, but who knows? A good thing was that I got my step2 ck result theday before the CS so it boosted my confidence wink.
