hello,
i have scheduled my exam in nov an that time i will be like 8 months pregnant cuz i know it would be very hard with baby to study at least for a couple of months so---my friend also took it that time and went fine and believe me 6th month is perfect timecuz i have just passed mine and u have energy in ur second trimester(though 8th month may not sound as convinient) but yeah one key advice try practicing mcqs on computers so u d be use to of it and for rest dont worry
wish u best of luck and please pray for me too---------------

Hi, Ujaala,

I took my step 2 whilt 3 months pregnant and CS while 4 months pregnant (aprox.). The hardest thing was preparing for step 2 with all the nausea and stomachaches and all the misery. And I was constantly hungry but could hardly eat anything so I worried that I won't be able to concentrate on the 9 hour exam. But my luck was that I could eat half a sandwitch on the way to the step 2 center so I could get through the first 4 hours without a break. That was great for me. Then I ate a protein bar and I was good to go for another 4 hour period. For the CS I had to travel to Atlanta, and my main fear for the exam was not to be forced to go to the bathroom during the encounters (because the baby is already pressing hard on my bladder). But in the stress of the exam, it was OK. And the pauses were well placed. Don't worry, you will be able to concentrate, the adrenaline will make you. I would take a break after the first 3 blocks and then 1 more. As for eating, protein bars or a cheese sandwich and some chocolate will do. Drink water if you feel like it but try not no drink too much. I would also bring some cofee, it won't affect the baby if you drink one cup. And I wouln't worry about this affecting your score. You'll be able to concentrate, don't worry!

Hi, I took my step 1 while 6 months pregnant. It was so hard for me then because while pregnant I feel so sleepy all the time. 1 month before my scheduled exam i had preterm labor because I was stressed studying and had to be confined in bed a long time. Still I took my exam. On the day of my exam, I didnt have preterm contractions but I was so stressed because of the unseasy feeling of being heavy. Dehdyration will give you more contractions so avoid bdeing dehydrated because ADH is like oxytocin. Yes, it's in the books that pregnant women tend to be more forgetful. Some made it though but no one can say if they could have done better if they were not pregnant.

I failed step 1 and my advices are:

1. Hydrate. Use your breaks for trips to the ladies room.

2. Relax. Focus. Dont get stressed.

3. The baby inside you needs you right now. Move your exam if u have to, if you think you wont be ready mentally and physically as a pregnant examinee. If you are going to move it, be sure you take it within your second trimester where you feel better.

I took my step 1 first time last year november. I have only been able to take it the second time this september ever since the baby arrived. So, if ur ready now. take it and study well you may not have time anymore to study when the baby arrives. The baby is such a handful. It takes an army to take care of a newborn.nod

hi

I do not know what it is like. But I have a friend who took her Univ exams when she was eight months pregnant and did the Step 1 about a year later. And you know what... She just about topped the Univ exams. And heard she's gotten thro' the Step 1 too and with good scores. The mother and the baby are doing fine.

So be optimistic and go for it.

Did ya know the Indian belief that babies imbibe what their mother's do while their inside...

So you could expect to have one hell of a determined, hard working bundle of joy waiting for you.

All the best
