36 yr woman with a strong family history of breast cancer refuses a mammogram because she heard it hurts. What do you do?
This a question from First Aid.
Answer is Discuss the risks and benifits ........................... You must abide by her wishes.

I had a similar questionin the Kaplan Qbank. It had this option too but the answer was offer analgesic for the pain.

So if anyone could tell me what is the correct answer.

its according to answer choices they given to us. In q bank que that choice is not there to discuss risk and benefits thats why this is the answer.

well , the answer will be that u have to ultimately listen to the patients wishes, but before that u have to know why the patient is refusing it, its denial, so u have to make the patient comfortable, and if there were a choice, please why it hurts, or which could be an open ended question, or facilitation, go for that before giving up to the patients wishes,

u must know wht the patient is refusing treatment
