Hi! I am an IMG with no visa, step 1 passed with 82 on the second attempt, ck 78 (first attempt), cs still waiting. sad

I'm fluent in english, french, portugues and spanish. I have some research: 3 research assistantships, 1 principal investigator. Did some community service: head volunteer at a foundation for homeless children for a year. Some clinical experience: 1 year in rotatory internship and then worked for 6 months in two different hospitals. Some teaching experience. (all of this in my home country) My LOR'S are pretty strong (I think) but they are all from doctors I have worked with (i.e. not american) exept for one, but the letter writer no longer workes in the US (retired). I did my best on the PS.

I'm trying not to loose hope here, but please, honestly, do you think I stand a chance in the 2006 match??? Any comments or suggestions are more than welcome.

did you apply?
if you dont apply you'll never know
just research your programs to give visa, and those who have alot of IMGs
be prepared to spend money
apply wisely, ..not to harvard, etc...
your PS should be 1 page max

Thank you for your reply! I'm waiting for my cs result, I know I can apply before I get it, but I don't want to be rejected because I'm not ECFMG certified yet. It shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks.

Again, thank you! Best of luck!

Apply as soon as possible...dont wait for your CS result.

Many programs offer interviews even when you are still waiting for your CS -(remember this exam is only pass/fail)

Everybody agrees that the sooner you apply, the more probabilities of getting interviews you have.

good luck!

Agree, apply asap. Many programs are just now making their final choices....
